Sleep Better, Naturally
In today’s world, everyone complains about being super-busy, stressed out, and sleep-
deprived. Sound familiar? Whether you’re struggling to fall asleep, stay asleep, or simply
can’t find enough time to catch some Zzzs in the first place, those all-important eight hours a
night have are becoming more elusive than ever. Luckily for you, we’ve pulled together a list
of our favourite hacks for helping your body and mind get the rest they need to keep up with
your lifestyle.
1.Eat yourself to sleep
No, we don’t mean midnight feasts. Protein-rich foods like chicken, nuts, eggs and Bioglan
Organic Spirulina are full of an amino acid called tryptophan which kick-starts the sleep-
inducing hormone melatonin. For optimum snoozing, have your last meal at least three
hours before you get tucked in so that your food has time to digest properly.
2.Try a digital detox
We’ve got bad news if you’re surgically attached to your smartphone because looking at
digital devices before you go to bed can prevent you from drifting off properly. Try and keep
your bedroom just for sleeping – so avoid box-set binges, spreadsheet-fiddling and
Facebook-scrolling. Instead, take a warm bath with a dash of lavender oil to help calm your
body and mind before you get into bed.
3.Find your rhythm
Our bodies naturally follow cycles and rhythms, so mimic that behaviour in your routine and
you’ll find natural sleep much easier to achieve. Figure out what works for you – if you feel
groggy after an eight-hour kip, you might need less sleep than the average person. Finding
the optimum times for your body to fall asleep and wake up is one of the most beneficial
things you can do for your wellbeing.
4.Lights out!
Even the dim glow from your smartphone or TV standby light makes its way through your
closed eyelids and to your brain. More of the sleep hormone we mentioned earlier –
melatonin – is produced when your environment is dark, making you sleep more soundly. If
you’re easily woken up, invest in some blackout blinds or an eye mask to block out any
disturbances in the darkness.
5.Rise and shine
Close the loop on your new routine by pre-preparing an energising boost for the morning.
Before you go to bed, chop fresh fruit and freeze overnight. In the morning, throw it in the
blender with a splash of your favourite nut milk and a spoonful of Bioglan Superfoods Acai +
Berry powder (which is rich in yawn-busting vitamin B2 and iron). Starting the day bursting
with natural energy is a foolproof way to stave off tiredness until bedtime, so you can really
earn a good night’s sleep
